HospiceCare 2020 Speaker Profiles

David Bougher, BSN, RN-BC

David has been a registered nurse since 1983. He worked in Critical Care and Intensive Care until 1996. At that time he began working for Valley Hospice, and until 2000 held a variety of positions from admissions and primary nurse to patient care coordinator then Coordinator of Palliative Care. In 2000 he was recruited to design and head the Palliative Care Service for a 120 bed acute care hospital and its Long Term Care Facility. In 2002 he became Palliative Care Coordinator and Coordinator of Education and Staff Development for Hospice Care Corp in Arthurdale, WV. Within a year he was promoted to Vice President of Clinical Services.

David is board certified in pain management. Since 2003 he has been on the Pain Management Panel at the American Nurses Credentialing Center and as such participated in the development of the first Pain Management Certification Exam for the nurse generalist. He is also a certified educator in ELNEC (End-of-life Nursing Education Consortium), EPEC (Education for Physicians on End-of-Life Care) and an HPNA Review Course trainer.

In March of 2007 David established his own consulting firm DPB Education Associates that specializes in hospice and palliative care education concentrating on the clinical, leadership, and regulatory areas. Currently David is contracted to coordinate education for a medium sized hospice in central Ohio and for ProCare HospiceCare.  


 Ted Cuppett, CPA

Mr. Cuppett has over 30 years of experience serving healthcare clients. He is a member of Dixon Hughes's Morgantown, WV practice office, which serves healthcare clients almost exclusively and provides a vast array of accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting services. His experience with healthcare providers includes auditing, strategic, and organizational planning, corporate compliance, reimbursement, litigation support, mergers and acquisitions, and tax filings for tax-exempt entities.

Ted is a frequent speaker for national and state healthcare organizations and frequently authors on healthcare financial matters. He recently served on the AICPA "Healthcare Expert Panel" and the "Healthcare Audit and Accounting Guide Revision Task Force". He is a previous member of the AICPA MCS Executive Committee, MCS Practice Standards Subcommittee, and numerous healthcare committees and task forces, including the AICPA task force assigned responsibility for reviewing the proposed Health Care Security Act of 1994. His current affiliations include: AICPA, NAHC, American College of Healthcare Executives, American Health Lawyers Association, Healthcare Compliance Association, and Home Health Financial Management Association (HHFMA)-Charter Member. Mr. Cuppett also serves as an Adjunct Professor at West Virginia University.


Lorin Dutton-Yolch, Pharm D

Dr. Lorin Dutton-Yolch has been a pharmacist since 2003 when she received her PharmD degree from Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA.  She then worked for two years as a staff pharmacist at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA.  Lorin then decided to pursue a clinical pharmacist position and completed an ASHP accredited general practice residency at Hamot Medical Center.

 Dr. Yolch's special interests include pain management, psychotropic medications, and geriatrics.  Lorin's professional memberships include the American Pharmacist's Association and the American College of Clinical Pharmacist. Lorin recently married and now resides with her husband Michael in West Virginia.


 Aletha Tippett, MD

Dr. Aletha Tippett, MD is a solo family physician who has made the Consumers' Research Council of America Guide to America's Top Family Doctors for the past six years in a row.  Her special interests include holistic medicine, pain management, palliative care, and wound care.  After graduating first in her class from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Tippett completed her residency at Mercy-Franciscan Mt. Airy Hospital, receiving many professional honors.

 The professional certifications that Dr. Tippett holds underline her devotion to wound care.  They include the AAWM Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Dr. Tippet is NAWC Wound Care Certified.

Dr. Tippett is the President and Founder of the Hope of Healing Foundation which is dedicated to reducing amputations and promoting innovative wound care.  She is an active volunteer at the Drop-Inn Homeless shelter where she supervises a student run medical clinic.  Aletha also serves on the Advisory Board of Visions and Opportunities, which provides housing for the elderly who are visually impaired, and she is a Wound Care Specialist on an Advanced Wound Team based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Tippett has published in various professional journals and magazines including Physicians Practice as well as various professional publications including Physicians Practice and American Journal of Pain Management. She conducts frequent seminars on wound care on both the national and international stage.


Andy Mihalyo, CAHA, MBA

Mr. Mihalyo has an extensive background in Management and Finance. He possesses strong competencies in Strategic Planning as well as Financial and Industry Analysis. He has a broad background in Banking and is a Senior Level Hospice/Palliative Care Administrator and Industry Consultant. He has previously held CEO positions in various organizations. Educationally he holds a BS in Accounting and a MBA. Andy holds the designation and certification of Certified Advanced Hospice Administrator (CAHA). He has also been involved in several successful entrepreneurial pursuits.

Mr. Mihalyo currently serves as Executive Vice President for Hospice of Central Ohio, headquartered in Newark, Ohio, and also serves as an Industry Consultant to several other Hospices throughout the state. In addition, he is a member of the Board of the Ohio Hospice & Palliative Care Organization.

Andy is President of MBA Solutions, LLC (mbahcsolutions.com), and resides in Steubenville, Ohio with his wife Mary and their three children.


Mary Mihalyo, BS, PharmD

Dr. Mary Mihalyo is the Executive Vice President of ProCare HospiceCare, Duluth Georgia. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Duquesne University, Mylan School of Pharmacy, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  

Dr. Mihalyo is a pioneer in the provision of medication-therapy-management services to Hospice patients. She has worked for more than twelve years developing the pharmaceutical care model of "On Demand Clinical Pharmacy Services", originally developed when she was associated with Valley Hospice, Inc., Steubenville, Ohio. She and her husband Andy live in Ohio with their three beautiful children.
